Doyou have a herniated disc, multiple herniated discs, degenerative discdisease, facet syndrome, neck pain, back pain, numbness and tingling inthe arms hands or legs? Is your doctor suggesting surgery, PainManagement, or Physical Therapy?

A lot of literature has often suggested traction therapy for these patients and often states high rates of success.

Researchindicates the disc is responsible for a significant number of back, neck, arm and leg pain syndromes. External compressive forces increasethe pressure within the disc causing the outer rings to weaken, bulgeand even tear. If a disc bulge or herniation occurs, the fragments orbulging material can compress and irritate surrounding spinal nervesleading to numbness, tingling and pain.

How Does Decompression Therapy Work?

Spinaldecompression therapy is a non-surgical, traction based treatment thatuses a computerized guided pulley system to cycle through distractionand relaxation phases to gently separate the bones of the spine. Aspecific spinal segment can be isolated and placed under a negativepressure gradient, causing a vacuum effect within the disc. The discmaterial that has protruded or herniated outside the normal confines ofthe disc can be pulled back within the disc, thus taking pressure offthe surrounding pain sensitive nerves. In addition to relieving nerveirritation, decompression therapy increases circulation to the discwhich stimulates healing within the injured tissues.

Infact, our system offers additional options that many of the othersystems do not.In addition to lumbar traction, our system is alsocapable of cervical and extremity (carpal tunnel) decompressiontraction.

TheTriton DTS System has innovations that may contribute to betteroutcomes (especially when combined with other rehabilitationmodalities). Some of these innovations include:

  • Ability for patient to lie supine, prone or recumbent during therapy
  • Computerized control of decompression force
  • A patented circumferential harness system
  • Customized patient treatment protocols
  • Dynamic force/time pull patterns
  • Patient controlled Cut-off switch
  • EMG Biofeedback capability Advanced table design
  • Pre-tension parameters
  • Capable of up to 200 Lbs of decompression traction

How Long is a Typical Treatment?

Atypical treatment session for decompression therapy is approximately20-30 minutes depending on each patient’s condition. In almost allcases, the treatments are completely painless. In fact, some patientsfall asleep during their spinal decompression sessions.

Becausemost patients receive therapy before their treatment to relax themuscles and rehabilitation exercises afterwards, the total time spentin our office is approximately 45 minutes.

Wehave had positive results utilizing 20 treatment sessions over a 6-weekperiod. Although treatment may last up to 6 weeks, many patients feelrelief from their pain after only a few sessions.
